The Conjuring Universe has been building momentum since the release of James Wan’s original way back in 2013. Since then we have had a sequel, 2016s excellent The Conjuring 2 and various spin-offs from the good, Annebelle Creation (2017) to the not so good, The Curse of La Llorona (2019).
Regardless of the fluctuating quality, The Conjuring Universe proves massively popular so it should come as no surprise that a third Conjuring movie has been in development.
For anyone who has somehow avoided these movies, they tell of the investigations of real-life demonologists, Ed and Lorraine Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. I’m personally very fond of the two Conjuring films and a few of the spin-offs so have been following the development of Part 3 with great interest. I honestly feel that The Conjuring is one of the most important horror films of this decade. My massive crush on Vera Farmiga has nothing to do with that bold statement.
Well, for anyone like me who is very much looking forward to the next chapter, I bring you good news. Not only do we have an official title but a release date, too. Here it is below:
Not much is known about the plot at present but it would seem that it will base the story on the Warren’s investigation into Arne Cheyenne Johnson who killed his landlord in 1981. The story was described in the 1983 book The Devil in Connecticut.
We do know that James Wan won’t be returning to direct although he is onboard as a producer, but directing duties have passed to Michael Chaves who directed The Curse Of La Llorona. Personally, I would have preferred Wan to return but I will reserve judgement until I have seen the movie.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is in cinemas 11-09-2020 and we will update with any news and trailers as they are revealed.
