It seems you can't keep a good ghost down.
Ghost House Pictures are releasing a new and rebooted version of The Grudge and it's coming to a Cinema near you next year. We don't know much about the story yet, but given how many times this film has been remade already, it's unlikely that it will deviate far from every other version we have had.
What we do know is that the new Grudge will once again be produced by Sam Raimi and was written by Jeff Buhler, the man behind this years Pet Semetary remake and Nicolas Pesce (The Eyes of My Mother), who also directs. As far as cast goes, Lin (I'm in everything) Shaye is onboard, as well as John Cho (Star Trek, Searching), and Betty Gilpin (Netflix's GLOW series).
Unfortunately, Takako Fuji won't be reprising her role as Kayako. This time round, the creepy, dead Mum with a... well, grudge, is played by Junko Bailey. Takashi Shimizu, creator of the Ju-On series, also has no involvement in the remake.
Ghost House have released the first poster for the movie which you can view below.
The Grudge is due in theatres, 3rd January 2020
