As you may have noticed in Lee’s review of Ready or Not, that movie’s lead, Samara Weaving, also starred in The Babysitter, which at the time of writing is still available for your viewing pleasure on Netflix.
And it’s recently been announced, that The Babysitter is getting a sequel.
For those who haven’t yet seen the first movie, here’s a quick rundown: A boy named Cole (played by Judah Lewis) has a crush on his babysitter named Bee (played by Samara Weaving). As his babysitter is well-liked, funny and most importantly to a young boy, extremely hot; Cole decides to stay awake long enough to sneak out of his room to take a peek at what Bee and her friends are getting up to in his house. Unfortunately for Cole, rather than an eyeful of sexy goings-on, he instead witnesses a murder at the hands of his beloved Bee, who appears to be part of a satanic cult.
Director McG will be returning for the sequel although this time around, the writing will be handled by Dan Lagana, in what I believe will be his first writing credits for a feature-length movie, so it will be interesting to see how the story pans out.
Some of the cast will be returning for the sequel so we’ll get to see Robbie Amel (Max), Emily Alyn Lind (Melanie), Andrew Bachelor (John), Leslie Bib (Mom) and Ken Marino (Dad) all back for more. Most interestingly though is that Bella Thorne will be returning to play Alison. Not only that, but she is currently at the top of the list of cast members for the movie. Seeing as this would seem to imply that her character is somehow alive despite the mess that she left behind, I’m intrigued to see what’s occurring with her character this time around.
At the time of writing, there’s no news of Samara Weaving returning to reprise her role, but with filming starting in October, we expect to be hearing more about the movie very soon.
