Little Monsters – not to be confused with the Fred Savage movie from 1989 with the same name – is an upcoming Australian zombie comedy. And for a lot of us, myself included, that little snippet of info was enough to get me excited to see the movie.
As this is a news article about the movie though, I guess I need to share a little bit more than just those three tantalizing words: Australian Zombie Comedy.
So, the plot:
Washed up musician Dave (Alexander England – Alien: Covenant) volunteers to help chaperone his nephew’s field trip, mainly due to him taking a liking to the teacher, Miss Caroline (Lupita Nyong’o – Black Panther, Us). Joining them on the trip is Teddy McGiggle (Josh Gad – Pixels, Frozen), the world’s most popular children’s entertainer.
Unfortunately for all involved, the trip runs into an unexpected problem – a zombie outbreak.
Filmed in Sydney, Australia, the other thing that may get those horror juices flowing is that the film is looking to get a 15 rating due to bloody zombie violence.
The movie has been hitting festivals since the start of the year where it seems to have garnered fairly positive reviews, especially for Nyongo’s performance.
The film is due to show at the London Film Festival on Oct 5th, just a few days from now, with an actual release date in the UK of November 15th.
